Our Power, Our Planet: How We’re Transforming Retail Waste This Earth Month and Beyond
Earth Month is more than just a celebration—it’s a call to action.
This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, highlights the collective impact we have in shaping a sustainable and compassionate future.
Every choice we make, from what we buy to how we give back, plays a role in the health of our communities and the planet. One often-overlooked way to make a difference?
Donating bras and underwear to those in need.
The Hidden Impact of Fashion Waste
The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters, responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of the world’s wastewater.
Underwear, in particular, is a major contributor to textile waste, with millions of bras and undies ending up in landfills every year.
Unlike other clothing items, they often can’t be resold—making donation a crucial alternative.
It takes approximately 2,700 liters of water to produce a single cotton t-shirt—the same amount one person would drink over three years. Instead of wasting overstock and unworn items, they can be redirected to help those who need them most.
Why Retailers Partner with Us
Businesses want to make a positive impact while reducing waste. By partnering with The Undie Chest, our retailers:
🌏 Responsibly redistribute overstock, returns, and samples instead of sending them to landfills
🌏 Strengthen their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
🌏 Support communities by providing essential undergarments to those facing hardship.
🌏 Participate in meaningful initiatives year-round that engage customers in giving back.
