Supporting Breast Cancer Survivors With Comfort and Care

New, properly fitting undergarments can provide practical comfort and support during treatment, recovery, and survivorship.

When Comfort and Fit Change

Breast cancer treatment, surgery, healing, swelling, sensitivity, and other body changes can affect how bras and undergarments fit and feel.

Every person’s experience is different. Some may need soft, wireless, front-closure, or specialized garments, while others may simply need comfortable everyday essentials in a different size or style.

Access to the right size, style, and type of undergarment can support comfort, privacy, and everyday routines. The goal is not to assume what someone needs, but to help make appropriate new, clean options available.

Why the Right Undergarments Matter

  • Breast Cancer Awareness

    Mastectomy Bras

Mastectomy bras are designed with pockets that can hold a breast form or prosthesis. They may offer added comfort, support, and a more secure fit for individuals who choose to wear them after breast surgery.

    Breast Prostheses

Breast forms and prostheses can provide shape, balance, and fit after a mastectomy or other breast surgery. Some survivors choose them for comfort, clothing fit, or personal preference, while others do not use them at all.

    Wireless Bras

Soft, wireless bras may feel more comfortable when someone is experiencing tenderness, sensitivity, swelling, or changes in fit. Front-closure and other easy-to-wear styles may also help during treatment or healing.

How The Undie Chest Helps

The Undie Chest works through trusted nonprofit organizations, foundations, agencies, and community partners to provide new, clean undergarments based on the needs of the people they serve.

Our partners work directly with breast cancer survivors to understand individual needs, including preferred sizes, styles, and specialty products. This helps ensure support is thoughtful, practical, and appropriate for each person.

The Undie Chest does not provide medical advice or fitting services. Instead, we help community partners access the undergarments and products they need to support comfort, privacy, and everyday routines.

Supporting Survivors Through Impact One

Through our partnership with Impact One Breast Cancer Foundation, new undergarments and specialty products reach breast cancer patients and survivors based on their individual needs. Impact One works directly with each person to coordinate appropriate products and support through its programs.

My name is Elizabeth Ayers-Cluff, founder of Impact One Breast Cancer Foundation. Our organization supports women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. We assist women wherever they are in their journey after a diagnosis.

We have had the opportunity to work with The Undie Chest in collaboration with our services, assisting women nationwide through our Hope in A Box Program

Through their support, we have been able to assist over 500 women with vital essentials such as bras, compression garments, and prostheses needed while in recovery.

With this partnership, we have been able to focus on serving women who are underinsured or uninsured. We pay particular attention to assisting women of color, women in the Latina community, and Native communities.

Our relationship with The Undie Chest has been such a great experience and has been a huge part of our success with our non-profit.

We are grateful for them and the continued support and know the women we serve are as well.

Kindest Regards,
Elizabeth Ayers-Cluff,

Breast Cancer in Perspective

Approximately 4.3 million women in the United States were living with a history of breast cancer as of January 1, 2025.

Every experience is different, but access to appropriate essentials can be an important part of practical support during treatment, recovery, and survivorship.
